Promising Minds Fellows Program

Promising Minds

The Hawaii Community Foundation (HCF) is partnering with the Association for Infant Mental Health in Hawaii (AIMH, HI) for the Promising Minds Fellows Program. AIMH HI is an organization composed of a diverse group of professionals who understand the critical nature of healthy early relationships. The Promising Minds Initiative (PMI) was developed by HCF to increase the healthy development of vulnerable children ages 0-5 and build resilience in those who have already experienced the negative effects of trauma. The Promising Minds initiative focuses on trauma-informed professional development approaches for the early childhood workforce and the health workforce, including clinicians from a variety of disciplines: social work, therapy, counseling, behavioral health supports, pediatrics, nursing and more. Promising Minds aims to create a vibrant statewide network of organizations and individuals addressing early adversity and trauma.

The Promising Minds Fellows Program is a capacity-building and professional development program that will serve as the cornerstone for Hawaii’s growing network of Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health Consultants. HCF and AIMH HI are partnering with a common goal of ensuring that children are healthy and ready to learn as a result of a foundation built solidly on infant and early childhood mental health. The Fellows Program seeks mental health professionals and direct service consultants, from across disciplines, in fields that connect to infants, young children, and their families to create a learning community that increases the proficiency and confidence of the participants to work directly with young children 0-5 and their families, and consult with staff, directors, teachers, educators at early care and education programs.
