Hawai‘i Community Foundation invests charitable funds in communities across the State primarily through nonprofit organizations. Our core programs are designed to support a stronger nonprofit sector as we believe that these organizations are one cornerstone of a vibrant civic society. Our Organizational Effectiveness program strengthens nonprofits by funding their work on organizational capacity building, leadership development, and board governance training. In recent years, Hawai‘i Community Foundation has partnered with various government agencies to bring critical resources to programs in the areas of health and human services. We administer a number of grantmaking programs with targeted purposes or an island-based focus. Hawai‘i Community Foundation also assists several private foundations in delivering their grantmaking programs according to their specific strategies.

Grants & Requests for Proposals

Hawai‘i Community Foundation distributes charitable funds to Hawai‘i’s nonprofit organizations through a variety of programs. Our Organizational Capacity Building program is a strategic investment in the strengthening of our community. We also assist private foundations in Hawai‘i in administering their grantmaking activities. Through government-based initiatives and funder collaborations, we help increase the level of charitable investment in Hawai‘i’s community. We also administer a number of smaller funds focused on supporting specific fields of nonprofit work, such as education or health.

Training Events & Meetings

Hawai‘i Community Foundation supports the advancement of knowledge, understanding and effectiveness in nonprofit organizations in Hawai‘i by providing training opportunities, and disseminating information through studies and online resources.
