2009 Giving Study

Last year, we commissioned Ward Research to do a follow up to our last commissioned study in 2002 on the giving patterns of Hawai‘i’s residents. For the first time, a “mixed-method methodology” was used for this study, combining a telephone survey of 513 households with an online survey of 299 households throughout the state. The survey was conducted in the summer of 2009. We were initially intrigued by this methodology because a landline phone only method skews data since most households today who maintain a landline are older, less mobile residents. The mixed-method methodology allowed us to increase our contact with a younger sample of respondents.
