Lois G. Lerner has been director of the Exempt Organizations Division since 2006 and is responsible for the administration and enforcement of tax laws that apply to nearly 2 million organizations recognized as tax exempt by the IRS. Prior to becoming director of the EO Division, Ms. Lerner was director of the Exempt Organizations Rulings & Agreements Division where she was responsible for the exempt organizations determinations letter program, public guidance and technical assistance for IRS agents conducting examinations of tax-exempt organizations. Prior to joining the IRS in 2001, Ms. Lerner was the associate general counsel for Enforcement and Acting General Counsel for the Federal Election Commission.
Ms. Lerner will be giving the morning keynote speech on “Governance & Board Accountability.” We anticipate that there will be a short period for Q&A following her talk at the conference.
