It’s T minus 26 as of today – countdown to the 2010 Board Leadership Conference next month at the Hawaii Convention Center. If you miss this one, you’ll either have to wait until 2012 for the next one or spend more to catch a similar conference on the continent this year. Following the 2008 Board Leadership Conference, the team here recommended that the board conference be held every other year rather than every year and that’s the assumption that we’re operating on.
By the way, when was the last time any local conference featured a ranking representative from the Internal Revenue Service in Washington, D.C.? We’re really pleased and honored that Lois G. Lerner, director of the exempt organizations division at the IRS in DC, accepted our invitation to speak at this year’s conference. As any nonprofit board members knows, the tax rules governing nonprofits is becoming increasingly complex. We anticipate that there will be a short period for Q&A following Lois’ talk at the conference. So truly, it’s an opportunity for folks to get those thorny tax questions answered. Don’t wait.
